Often I don’t have cake flour in my cupboard. Wait, I always do. But there the times when I run out and in the rush of children and baking and that pop-up shop that is in two days and the cheer banquet and the applications for Oldest Child’s college are due that I don’t have time to run to the store. So this substitution will get you by in a pinch.
Take: 1 cup of all purpose flour, and pour into bowl.
Remove 2 tbsp flour and add in 2 tbsp cornstarch.
Mix.
Voila! You have faux cake flour that you can use in recipes.
