Could it be? yes. yes it could. It’s Friday ya’ll.
It’s crazy that I sit alone in my house as I type this. Where are my kids? Work and girls camp (and college). Is it weird, yes. Is it quiet? Also yes. I enjoy several luxuries as a SAHM. One is the time I get to spend with my kids during the summer. I love summers for this reason. In fact, I always cry on the first day, and never usually out of JOY. I miss my kiddos, but let’s not think about that….Let’s get this Friday Fab Five going.
1. Favorite do-dads
It’s Father’s Day this weekend, and I am confident most of you have probably gotten the gift for the dads and husbands in your life, but let me give you some quick last minute finds that can add to the JOY level of the men in your life.
My Hubby loves candy — if its sour — he’s a bigger fan. So I grabbed these some fun new flavors Sour Patch Kids to add to the top of the gifts. Watermelon, Grape and Cola. Are your husbands grill masters? If so, grab some FLAVOR GOD seasonings and an apron. Handy man hubby? A drill, pocket knife, or Dad’s joke book are also fun gifts that can be from the kids. See all of our other picks on our Fathers Day Amazon list.
2. Color
Did you see us unpack the new flavors of color from AmeriColor? We picked some spicy new additions to our color closet. And yes, we went ahead and snagged the biggest bottles possible. Chartreuse, Chili Powder, Sangria (which is like a deep burgandy color) and my tried and true Moss. Are you excited to see them? I am too.
3. Media
With my busy week last week I took the easy approach this week watching all things old RomComs. Starting with 27 dresses, How to lose a Guy in 10 Days and Juno. have you ever seen The Way Way back? its seriously the best. I’ve never met a movie with Steve Carell that I didn’t like.
4. In the Kitchen
I’ve been missing New York this week and all my favorite foods that line its busy streets, so I am trying something new: Copycat New York food that I love.
Let’s start with the first thing I run to when I am in the city: Magnolia Bakery and their amazing Banana Pudding. Its not too sweet, but sweet enough to curb any late night craving I have. My next favorite spot is Juliana’s Brick oven pizza. Originally called “Grimaldi’s,” this slice of pie has had my heart under the Brooklyn bridge from my first visit with my mother years ago. Now, I can’t link their recipe, but here is a recipe I love almost as much that I can make from my own kitchen. Another one of my favorite spots is Shake Shack. I know, they are everywhere, but there’s nothing like the OG Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. This little free standing shack has changed my love of burgers always and forever. I cook up this recipe anytime I am missing sitting in a park and letting pigeons steal my fries. Want to go to New York with me this fall? Not kidding….
